Micro-Star International announced plans to enter the solid-state drive market a few months ago during CES 2021. At that time, the vendor announced the flagship NVMe SSD series with PCI Express 4.0 x4 interface, but the vendor will offer more affordable products. The company has already registered many new devices in the database of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). All of them will be released under the Spatinum brand.
MSI SSDs will be available in three families. The flagship Spatinum M400 will include the M470, M471 and M480 lines. They are characterized by a PCI Express 4.0 connection interface and a capacity from 500 GB to 2 TB. Apparently, one of these drives was presented at CES 2021.
One step below will be the MSI Spatinum M300 NVMe drives. Devices labeled M370, M371, M380 and M381 use a slower PCI Express 3.0 connection and have capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB. MSI will add entry-level solutions to the Spatinum S200 family. It is represented by 2.5-inch SSDs with SATA 6 Gb / s interface with capacities ranging from 240 GB to 1 TB.
MSI SSD specifications are still unknown. However, the Taiwanese have probably turned to firms like Phison and Silicon Motion for ready-made solutions, so the specifications of the new SSDs will correspond to devices available on the market from other manufacturers. The official announcement of new products will take place in the near future.
